Tonight Elaine and I are heading out to a new club we haven't been to yet - Coyote Alley in Surprise, AZ. We're going to see Adam McGraw at 9 PM. I plan on throwing a few back and enjoying myself. Which made me think about something. 9 PM??? Here in AZ that's very typical. 8 or 9 PM bands start playing. People are out around 7 - 8 PM drinking, and sometimes call it a night around 11 or 12 PM. Bars are open til only 2 AM here. At least that's what I've seen. Don't get me wrong, I haven't closed any AZ bars yet (hey I'm married, and my drinking buddies are in Buffalo!) - but I'm still a hardcore-Buffalo bar guy.

Buffalo is a professional drinking town. Don't you even start to argue with me. In fact, it might be the craziest drinking city on the planet. I lived in Buffalo for my whole life until last year and have had many many long nights down on the Chippewa strip, or on Elmwood, or even drinking in a local pub. In fact, there's so many bars in the Buffalo metro area per sq. mile, it's sick. But that's the way we (yes, I said we!) like it. You never ever ever ever get bored drinking in Buffalo. There is a bar for everyone there. Bars close at 4 am, but sometimes are open even later. I've pulled many closing shifts with my boys downtown, and it's always been a blast.

So, there really is no comparison. Phoenix is a fun town, don't get me wrong. Maybe I haven't experienced much of the bar life here. I've been to a bunch of bars, but nothing adds up to Buffalo. HELL NO. In Buffalo you've got the Chip Strip... places like 67 West, The Barrel House, Croc Bar, Liars, the list goes on and on. Then there are some awesome Allen St. establishments like Frizzy's, Nietzsche's, the Pink, etc. Elmwood even has some amazing joints like Cozumel, Mr. Goodbar, Coles...

Hopefully tonight I'll have some super amounts of fun so it will feel like going out when I was back in B-lo... not that I'm trying to mimick it but that's where I had the most fun. That's where all my drunken buddies live. Until I gain some drunken friends here in the Southwest, the Buffalo Bar Scene wins the fight.
